Hi, I'm Dionna.
I make tech feel
human, fun, interesting and easy.

Creative technologist with an M.A. from SMU. I build AI conversations, playful prototypes, and content people actually stop scrolling for.

Elara, idle

ElaraMy conversation design demo. She's live, go ahead.

Well met! I'm Elara. Dionna built me, so I know her work better than anyone. Where should we start?

Three lanes, one designer

AI conversation design

I write the personas, the intents and the fallback lines. I also teach people how to judge what AI says.

Conversation design

Elara, a D&D sidekick

Dungeon Masters juggle rules, NPCs and story notes mid-session. Elara answers fast and feels like part of the world: a persona with her own art and moods, intent matching for the questions DMs actually ask, three reply variants per intent, and fallbacks that point you somewhere useful.

What I learned: the fallback line gets read more than any other, so it deserves the most care.

Elara's character art was generated with AI image tools, art-directed by me. The persona, conversation design and code are mine.

Consulting

CyFire.ai

I joined CyFire's crisis-readiness platform at V2 to consult on UX, UI and AI: QA passes, bug reports, an accessibility report and a page restructure. V3 shipped with several of my suggestions, and the difference shows. My favorite note: their AI coach kept repeating itself, so I suggested scripted replies or a token budget for variety.

AI evaluation

Teaching AI what good looks like

At gTech I co-write the rubrics for judging AI-generated shopping and text ads, as a deck, a guidance doc and a decision tree, and I run calibration for 80+ raters.

I build the tools around it too: Apps Script automations that cut manual coordination by 30%, and a web app that replaced a spreadsheet 50 people were editing at once. The details are confidential; the method isn't.

Interactive prototypes

I don't stop at mockups. Everything here is built, so you can click it.

PixelPlay dashboard with four design games
Capstone

PixelPlay

Girls with strong visual skills get told tech means coding. PixelPlay turns the dress-up games I grew up on into real UX lessons for ages 8 to 18: client briefs, palette puzzles, a page builder. Three age tiers, 44px touch targets, no time limits, and no dark patterns.

What I learned: accessible design is better design for everyone, so it goes in first, not last.

Character and avatar art generated with AI image tools, art-directed by me. The concept, UX and prototype are mine.

Vie, then the Zine Room

Vie started as a listening-party concept for Doja Cat's album, one room per love language. Then I built it in A-Frame: pick your love language, walk its room, take a photo on the way out.

The lab

M.A. experiments

A Three.js configurator for pet collar pendants, generative sketches in Processing, 3D scenes in 3ds Max and Unreal, and studies with Midjourney and ElevenLabs.

Ho Ho Ahoy on three phones: the itinerary, a boarding-pass home screen and a cruise bingo board
Built for a real trip

Ho Ho Ahoy, a cruise companion

I'm taking a Christmas cruise with a group that ranges from about 22 to 60, and we needed real headcounts, plus-ones included, before we sail. So I built the group an app. It installs from the browser, works on sea days with no signal, and syncs RSVPs to a Google Sheet through Apps Script once someone's back online.

Inside: a boarding-pass home screen with a countdown, the day-by-day itinerary, RSVPs and headcounts for group plans, a packing list that grows with what you sign up for, and games (bingo, a scavenger hunt, trivia and a predictions reveal).

Design call: the organizer is a user too, so plans, reminders, bingo prompts and hunt prompts all live in the spreadsheet. Updating the app never takes code.

Content and design

I spent years making loops for Netflix, BET and Riot Games. These days the loops are mine.

Instagram grid for poet Nirvana K.C.: purple quote cards, an open mic promo and a script logo on a phone
Social design

Nirvana K.C.

A feed for a poet: plain-type quote cards, moody purple photography and promos for her project LISTEN and an open mic night, laid out so the whole grid reads as one piece.

Cheer and Chow Instagram grid alternating chalkboard type posts with burger and fries photos
Social design

Cheer & Chow

Social for a San Marcos burger spot. Chalkboard-style type posts alternate with food shots, so the feed has a rhythm and the brand shows up in every square.

Tenor, 2019 to 2023

GIFs I made at Tenor

I cut partner video into GIFs, tagged every one for search, and built partner pages that matched each brand. Later I coordinated 25+ campaigns a quarter and wrote the team's style guide.

Each tile rotates through a few of my GIFs from that title, title cards included. Tap one to skip ahead.

Branding and editorial

Freelance since 2013. Characters, logo systems and full brand packages, plus logos for Screaming Banshees, Protein Philosopher, Safe Space Beauty Bar and Moon Cactus Co.

Lil Joney character sheet, cover art and stream screen
2020

Joney Fieldz

A musician and streamer needed an online presence. I created "Lil Joney," a cartoon persona in a nostalgic Kids Next Door style, then built cover art and animated social posts around him.

Warren County Community College

A seal and brand kit for the Educational Opportunity Fund: primary and secondary logos in four colorways, type and color specs, and merch mockups. Tagline: "Creating Dynamic Leaders."

Explicit Box Co. pattern, social post and logo exploration
2021

Explicit Box Co.

A Black-owned, woman-owned self-care box. I built the full brand package: an illustrated logo, pattern, palette, type, social templates and stationery that feel luxe despite the cheeky name.

Resonance magazine cover with Float Fest and DAMN spreads
2017

Resonance magazine

A 12-spread music magazine I designed and laid out end to end: cover, contents, features, event listings and ads. Lots of type, lots of grid. A student project, with photography belonging to its original owners.

Dionna Womack

Hi, I'm Dionna

I'm a creative technologist in League City, Texas, and I like work where the pretty part and the logic part have to agree.

I came up through design. I started freelancing in high school, spent years at Tenor turning movie and TV moments into GIFs, and now I evaluate AI-generated content at gTech, where I write the rubrics and run calibration for 80+ raters. My M.A. in Creative Technology from SMU gave me the tools to build what I used to only mock up.
